Yes indeed and these classically styled antique chaise lounge are still popular and a delight to the eye. But the fact is that the chaise lounger is such an endearing (and enduring) piece of furniture that it constantly keeps reappearing in a dazzling set of modern designs.
What is a Chaise Lounge? This type of chair allows you to be in a reclining position without necessarily laying down. As you assume this position you are able to rest while still being able to see the surroundings. This is why this type of is so popular for outdoors as they allow you to enjoy the nice and relaxing view outside.
The fact that these chairs were mainly the domain of the rich and fabulous they eventually became very much associated with luxury and wealth. This image was further magnified during the early days of Hollywood as they were a commonly seen in film with the era´s starlets draped seductively across their upholstered frames. However the early 20th century also served to make these furniture designs more accessible to the masses due to the industrialized process of furniture making in general. Being mass-produced had the effect of making them much less expensive and soon they could be found in middle class homes around the world.
